Haridas, G.N.R. Kumaravelan’s third directorial venture is set to go on floors shortly. The film is based on a real life story, says the director, of a family that lived in his neighbourhood for more than 10 years. Kumaravelan’s debut movie was Ninaithaale Inikkum. So questions have risen about his penchant for naming his movies after yesteryear classics. When asked about Haridas being part of that sentiment, he said that it was just a chance occurrence. The movie is based on two characters, one named Sivadas and other named Haridas, hence the name for the movie.
Kishore plays the lead role in the movie, the father of an 8 year old son. The son will be played by Prithviraj Das. Sneha plays an important role in the movie. The movie tells the story of how the boy takes up his father as his role model.
There have been a lot of reports about Haridas being the reason for Sneha walking out of Kochadaiyaan. When asked about this, Kumaravelan said that he had not prompted any such decision. He however said that Sneha was extremely excited upon hearing the script and accepted the role immediately. She had reportedly said that out of the 80 odd scripts she had heard, none had excited her more.
Kumaravelan added that the movie is sure to be noted for its dialogues which are being penned by A.R. Venkatesan. The movie will also mark the first time cinematographer Rathnavelu will shoot completely in the digital format.
