Comedian and veteran theater artist S.Ve.Sekar is well known as one of the former MLAs of AIADMK. He has contested and won the election in Mylapore constituency in the year 2006. Though he is not contesting in the elections this year, as per rules and regulations the actor has submitted his and his wife Uma's tax reports and statements to the election commissioner Mr. Praveen Kumar.
S.Ve.Sekar is one of the best comedians and theater artists and his troupe 'Nadaga Priya' is still popular today. He was elected as an Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate in 2006 election. In February 2008, he rebuked the party leadership for not inviting him to a general council meeting. His commendation of M. K. Stalin, deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu from DMK evoked strong protests from AIADMK party members.He was expelled from the party on 30 July 2009. He is currently an unattached member in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly (not representing any political party).
