Sucker Punch directed by Zack Snyder is a fantasy flick that will take one on a journey into the subconscious world of a young girl, whose dreams provide an escape, literally from the harsh realities of her real world. It is a world where unimpeded by the rigid boundaries of time and space, anything is possible and reality constantly merges with fantasy.
A young girl called Babydoll (Emily Browning) is committed to a mental institution by her stepfather after her mother’s death. Trapped but determined to fight for her chance at a better life, Babydoll and four fellow-sufferers-Rocket (Jena Malone), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), Amber (Jamie Chung), and Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish) join hands to plot their escape from a horrible fate.
They are up against their evil captors – Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm) who have the ultimate power over their fates. The plucky gang uses every means at their disposal from the realms of the fantastical to the more prosaic world of reality to fight their way free. Together they embark on a journey that will set them free or doom them for eternity.
The visual effects are touted to be a marvel and with a premise this promising, it looks like Warner Bros have a winner on their hands with this one!
