Women Achievers Awards function spearheaded by Raj TV, held in a grand function on the 1st of March, was attended by luminaries from the film industry like Mrs. Suhasini Manirathnam, Mrs. Rohini, Ms. Gowthami and Mrs. Devayani Rajakumaran.
The special children from RASA started the event and dazzled the audience with a wonderful performance. The dance troupe Avigna also held viewers spellbound with an array of magnificently choreographed dances executed to perfection. Noted singers like Sri Lekha, Parthasarathy, Sri Madhumitha, Megha and Anand rendered some beautiful songs. Added to this, students from MOP Vaishnav College for Women performed a music show.
Dr. Revathi Raj(Medicine), Dr. Parveen Sultana(Ideology), Dr. Vasudha Prakash(Education), Mrs. Noori(Social Service) and Dr. Ambika Kameshwar(Fine Arts) were honored with the ‘‘Women Achiever’s Award’’ for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
Mrs. Savithri Vaithi, Founder, Vishranthi Old Age Home; Dr. Lakshmi Vijayakumar, Founder, SNEHA- Prevention of suicide; Mrs. Radhika Santhanakrishnan, Founder, Penn Nalam – that educates, cares & counsels underprivileged women on Breast cancer and Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman, the 1st woman to win the Grandmaster title in Chess were awarded “Woman of the year” .
The celebrities distributed the awards and shared their thoughts on womanhood. They also conveyed their appreciation of the awardees who did such charitable work without a thought for fame or glory.
A donation of Rupees 50,000/- was given away by RAJ TV i.e. Rs. 10,000/- each to 5 organisations- Dr. Vasudha Prakash’s V-EXCEL, Mrs. Noori’s South India Positive Network, Dr. Ambika Kameshwar’s RASA, Mrs. Suhasini Maniratnam’s NAAM Foundation and also to ‘Child Home’ that is taken care by Mrs. & Mr. Senthil, a social worker from the Madras School of Social Work.
