The Madras High Court has sent a notice to BCCI president N Srinivasan, Rajiv Shukla, Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Australian cricketer Doug Bollinger, American singer Katy Perry and a Sony Set Max official. The petitioner K Jebakumar, alleged that the stars’ performances in the inaugural function of IPL 5 were “indecent, obscene and lascivious”.
He also alleged that Sony Set Max cared less to censor such provocative performances. Jebakumar pointed out that the programme was proving to be a distraction for students who were taking up their examinations. He has said that the mentioned persons have committed offences under Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, Young Persons Harmful Publications Act, Foreigners Act and many other IPC sections.
