Director Ameer told his friend Cheran to try his hand at comedy because he has a wonderful sense of humor. At the recently held audio launch of Sargunam's Vaagai Sooda Va with Vimal, Cheran had the audience in splits when he did a little comedy routine involving a pretend phone conversation with a friend about the film. Ameer laughed the loudest and longest.
Later he addressed Cheran and told him to stop making films where he cried a lot like MGR. He said that comedy was Cheran's actual forte and it would be better for him if he were to focus on that particular genre in the future. Cheran accepted the sage counsel sportingly.
