The Jayam Ravi starrer Thillalangadi hit
the screens yesterday and it was not a smooth
ride on the first day. The Congress party
workers headed by that party’s backward
classes leader Thanigai Mani staged a dharna
in front of the Devi Theatre complex where
the film was screened demanding that the
scenes offending the All-India Congress
Party President Sonia Gandhi be chopped
off. The posters of the film were torn down
by the activists during this agitation.
Following this, the theatre manager came
to the spot and pacified the agitators by
stating that the particular scene would
be cut from the film.
Thanigai Mani said that the makers of Thillalangadi
obtained the certificate from the Censor
Board by flouting the rules.
