The Indo-Russian Chamber of Commerce and
Industries and the Russian Centre of Science
and Culture will soon set up Sivaji Ganesan
and Sergei Bondarchuk Indo-Russian Film
Service Bureau, which will screen Tamil
and Russian films every month. This decision
comes in the wake of huge popularity that
Tamil films have in Russia and vice-versa.
The Chamber Secretary P. Thangappan said
that a DVD library containing Sivaji Ganesan
and Bondarchuk films exclusively would be
set up. Thangappan said, “We seek
to familiarize Russian art and culture among
Tamils and popularize Tamil films in Russia.
This way, both the countries that have a
rich history in cinema would learn about
each other.”
