The press meet of debutante Chellamuthu’s movie Sooriyanagaram was held today in Chennai. Speaking at the meet, director Chellamuthu said that the movie was based in Madurai and was inspired from some real incident which he had read about in the newspapers; like the story of one prisoner who was released on amnesty a few years back but was hacked to death as soon as he stepped out of prison. He also added that the film would tell a lot about the quite belligerent disposition of Madurai people and that he would show that people from the place had very soft interiors covered by the intense outward behaviour. He added that the initial title of the movie was Thoonganagaram, but that was used by Gaurav for his movie which released warly last year. So, he changed his title to Sooriyanagaram, which also has a synonymous meaning; i.e. the city where the sun never sets.
The film will have Rahul Raveendran in the lead role. Music has been composed by Fen Vialle and all the songs have been penned by Vairamuthu. Meera Nandan is the lady lead in the movie; she was present at the meet. She said that she was very happy to do a role that was close to life and be part of a love story that was very realistic. She expressed confidence that all people would like the movie. Sooriyanagaram is expected to be ready for release shortly.
