Popular Telugu stars including Venkatesh, Balakrishna, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan Teja, and Jr NTR have agreed to scale down their pay. A joint committee comprising stars, producers and technicians was established to discuss the possibility of bringing down the stars’ salaries following the rise in the production cost.
This committee held discussions for over a week and finally the stars agreed to reduce their pay. Further, the stars also agreed to pay the salary and bata for their assistants from their own funds to reduce the producers’ burden.
This decision has been hailed by the entire Tollywood film fraternity as it would reduce the cost from 60 to 40 lakhs for small budget and from 3 to 2 crores for big budget films.
