The much awaited dialogue between representatives of FEFSI and Producers’ Association in the presence of Labour Commissioner Somu Rajan, took place yesterday at his office. The dialogue happened in three short sessions which started early in the evening. FEFSI was represented by directors Ameer, S.P. Jananadhan and secretary G.Siva while the Producers’ Association was represented by seniors S.A. Chandrashekhar, Thenappan and Kalaipuli S Thanu.
The talk, which was aimed at resolving the wage structure issue, could not fulfil its objective. Most of the issues that were there at the start of the talks still remain unresolved. However, the talks cannot be termed a complete failure as a consensus was reached on the way ahead to find a permanent solution. A fresh session of dialogue has been scheduled for the 9th of this month where further progress is expected.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to set up an independent committee to look into the matter and come up with recommendations. All these measures are expected to help FEFSI and the Producers’ Association reach an amicable solution without much delay.
