Nadunisi Naaygal, the latest film directed by Gautham Menon has been receiving mixed response from the critics and the public. On Sunday, a group of protestors belonging to a social outfit, was arrested by the police when they tried to demonstrate in front of the directors’ house at Kaanagam in Chennai against an objectionable scene in the film.
Reacting to this the director stated that it was not his intention to hurt anyone. Further on he stated, “Nadunisi Naaygal is based on a true story and the antagonist is a mentally disturbed person who cannot distinguish between good and bad”. He also reiterated that the film’s promos always maintained that it is not for the weak hearts and the censor had given an A certification.
On the demand from the outfit that the scene in question be removed from the film, the ever candid Gautham said that as the film is not doing good business, it may not be in the theatres for a long time and hence the need for deleting the scene does not arise.
