Recently, Nirzar Film Society held the 2nd International Film Festival at Nagpur which focused on Tamil cinema with an objective to project its talent and skill. This festival was co-ordinated by sub-titlist Rekhs who did the subtitling for Endhiran. The festival was a grand success and many artistes from the Tamil film industry were honored.
While talking about the criteria for selection of films and artistes for the festival, Rekhs had this to say, “The IFF Nagpur, decided to showcase Tamil films as part of their theme to focus on regional cinema. The films were chosen based on certain criteria which their committee had stipulated. My job as a co-ordinator was to adhere to their criteria and send films for them to evaluate and choose. Since I specialize in sub-titling, they additionally wanted me to ensure that the films had good sub-titling. The committee then chose Myna for its rural feel and low budget; Thenmerku Paruvakaatru for its content especially by a debut producer; Mudhal Mudhal Mudhal Varai for it's metro content, international appeal and world awards; Kannaththil Muthamittaal to honor Mani Ratnam who redefined Tamil cinema; Naan Kadavul for national award status; Kaadhal for true life realism, Saroja for performance and Ilaignan for it's big budget appeal and the ship built for this specific purpose by Thotta Tharani.”
