The ‘Breathless’ singer Shankar Mahadevan has launched an online music academy for Indians in US called Shankar Mahadevan Academy. The academy will teach Carnatic as well as Hindustani music online.
Shankar is well-versed in both Carnatic as well as Hindustani music and is looking forward to impart his knowledge. “I always noticed that whenever it came to Indian classical music or even just Indian music, the teaching methods are very unstructured. You cannot put it down in points anywhere. Whereas, if you go to Berklee College of Music or Juilliard School just to learn trumpet for example, everything is structured.” says Shankar Mahadevan.
When asked about his academy's plans in India, he replied that he is very much interested but due to low bandwidth it is not possible here right now.
