A.R.Rahman’s last Hollywood outing, ‘People like us’ has been shortlisted for the Academy Awards for its original scores. After he won the two Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009, he was again shortlisted for his work in 'Couples Retreat' followed by two nominations in the year 2011 for Danny Boyle’s '127 Hours'.
He is now back in this year’s Oscars shortlist for Alex Kurtzman’s 'People Like Us'. Surprisingly, another Indian features in the list too. Sreevalsan J Menon, a well-known musician from Kerala, features in the list for his work in Roopesh Paul’s ‘Saint Dracula’. Other than these two, there are 104 other musicians competing for the final nominations.
The final nominations will be announced on February 10th and the award ceremony will happen on 24th of the same month.
