Director Ameer, in a letter to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, has requested her to boycott the Chennai International Film Festival to be held between December 14th and 22nd. The director has said that quality films like Then Merkku Paruvakattru and Sengadal have not been included in the CIFF. He added that films have been selected based on the commercial success and not for its quality.
Then Merkku Paruvakattru had won three National Awards and it is disheartening to see that the film did not find a place in the CIFF. Ameer urged the CM not heed to the request of the CIFF Committee members and attend the CIFF.
