Shammu’s comments supporting homosexuality during a recent event has drawn the attention of many, including the Hindu Munnani Katchi. The actress, who did a small role in Dasavatharam and then went on to star in the national award winning film Kancheevaram, had said that practicing homosexuality depends on the persons concerned and it should not be condemned.
Shammu furthered that even the courts have come to the aid of homosexuals and many civilized nations have recognized homosexuals.
The HMK coordinator Kannan, reacting to Shammu’s statement, said that her comments are unwelcome and she should refrain from making such remarks as it would affect the Indian values and family systems.
