Telugu actor, Navdeep who was seen in Tamil films like Arindhum Ariyamalum and Ajith's Aegan has been convicted in a drunken driving case that was filed in 2010. Navdeep and his friend were apprehended for rash driving when a constable who tried to stop them sustained minor injuries. Navdeep was the driver and blood tests showed more than the legally permissible level of alcohol in the bloodstream while driving.
The court has found him guilty under sections 279 (rash driving), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), yesterday. A fine of Rs. 8000 has been given. His advocate, Mr. Sriranga Rao has said that they will be appealing against the conviction.
