Sooran, directed Balu Narayanan, is produced by nine producers including Venkat and Sivaji. This film stars Karan and Malayalam actress Anumol, who has two Tamil films Kanukkulle and Ramar to her credit.
The audio launch of Sooran took place in Chennai today. Director SP Jananathan released first copy of the audio CD and Perarasu received it from him. Those present at this event were Pandiraj, K Bhagyaraj, A Venkatesh, Thambi Ramayya, SP Jananathan, Perarasu and others.
Speaking at this audio launch, Perarasu said that critics opine that national award winning films attain that status because those films do not have kuthu songs or fights or any other commercial aspect for that matter. But in reality commerciality and Tamil cinema is entwined that it cannot be separated.
The director said that even in Ramayana and Mahabaratha we can find punch dialogues like “Indru poi nalai va” which proves that such things are essential in a film.
Pandiraj recalled his days as an assistant director to K Bhagyaraj. The director said that when he was working as Bhagyaraj’s assistant, his friends and relatives refused to believe it. In order to make them believe, Pandiraj said that he used take a few leaves out of Bhagyaraj’s letter pad without his knowledge and write letters in it and send them to this family. He added that to this day, Bhagyaraj was not aware of this but he felt that he should be told about it and hence took the opportunity.
