Versatile actor Kamal
Haasan was honored by the Kerala government
on August 22nd 2010 (Onam), for his contribution
to the Indian cinema for the past 50 years.
The Kerala chief minister, VS. Achuthanandan,
presented the actor with a silk shawl and
lauded his work thus far.
Speaking at this event, Kamal recalled that
the Malayalam director KS. Sethumadhavan
was instrumental in making him an actor
and later ace director K. Balachander took
him under his wings. He also said, “I am
at a loss for words to express how deeply
I am indebted to Malayalis. It was they
who helped me come up forgiving my shortcomings
as an artist.”

filmdom, when he was just 5 years old, was
also felicitated during this function.
