The Common Wealth Games’ theme song, which
was set to tune by Oscar winner AR Rahman,
has been titled Swagatham. Speaking at the
press conference about this song, the Mozart
of Madras said, “When you hear the song
you feel like India is calling you. I want
the crowd to sing along. We have put in
a lot of hard work and we are all very excited
to turn it into a memorable experience.
I am still working on it and am curious
to know how older, intelligent people, who
have years of wisdom, will react to it.”
The song is sung by AR Rahman along with
other singers. It is predominantly in Hindi
with some words in English. The musician
said that the song has been approved by
the group of ministers. He added that Swagatham
is dedicated to the father of the nation
Mahatma Gandhi.
