Rajini’s
latest release Kuselan is in the eye
of the storm with theatre owners demanding
the losses incurred towards the movie’s
screening. The Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners
Association, in a press meet, today,
said that Kuselan is fast losing steam
at the box office and an estimated loss
of Rs. 40 crore is calculated. The spokesperson
also |
|
|
demanded
producers Seven Arts Vijayakumar and Kavithalaya
Balachander to repay their losses.
Kuselan was released in 375 theatres all over
the state and while big theatres in urban
areas have bought the movie in the 25 –
35 lakhs range, smalltime theatres purchased
it anywhere between 10 – 15 lakhs. The
spokesperson also mentioned that although
the loss is not to the tune of Baba’s,
Rajini had arranged for repayment of Baba’s
losses they did not feel the pinch. He also
announced that no cooperation would be extended
towards the movies of these two producers
in the future, if repayment is not done.
It was mentioned that the movie was only bought
at a high rate since director Vasu promised
of Rajini’s appearance for the entire
duration of the movie. To decide on a the
future plan of action, the Theatre Owners’
Association is planning to convene a meeting
on the 23rd of August. |
