Originally called Masala Café, Sundar C’s action comedy underwent a recent name change keeping in mind with the tax sops. Now it’s called Kalakalappu. A press meet, coinciding with the release of the movie, was held in Chennai. It was attended by cast members Shiva, Vimal, Anjali and Ovia including director Sundar C. Incidentally, Kalakalappu is also Sundar C’s 25th film.
Shiva, on his address, mentioned that he is glad to be part of Sundar’s 25th film. “I liked the character in this movie so much and later Sundar told me that he had me in mind while writing it. That is what he thinks of me; a fraudster and wastrel,” said Shiva evoking a wave of laughter from the audience. “This is the right kind of summer fun movie,” Shiva added.
Sundar stated that he felt a surge of happiness after watching the movie. “It was like a homecoming for me. I realized how much I have missed directing and my team of technicians including cinematographer V K Senthilkumar and Badri,” he reminisced on his experience coming back to direction after years. Dhananjayan from UTV pictures revealed that the film was completed in 57 days and that it will be an entertainer liked by all sections of the audience.
3 songs were screened in the meet of which ‘ivaluga imsai thaanga mudiyala’ had Anjali and Oviya in their glamorous avatar. It was also revealed that veteran actor V S Raghavan, who is 90 years old, has danced in the movie.
Kalakalappu, produced by Kushboo’s Avani Creations is distributed by UTV Motion Pictures and is expected to be released in May.
