Udhayanidhi Stalin's debut film, OKOK is facing trouble on the eve of its release. Representatives of the Hindu Dharma Sakthi, led by Secretary Devasenathypathy has filed a petition in the Madras High Court asking that certain scenes in the films depicting sanyasis and other religious figures unique to the Hindus in a bad light be removed by the director, Rajesh. The move was made after they had seen the trailer of OKOK.
They have asked the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) not to certify such films with scenes that may hurt the sentiments of Hindus. The CBFC have responded by filing an affidavit saying that the film has been certified in keeping with their guidelines and in keeping with the Cinematograph Act. They said that a film must be judged on the basis of its entirety and not isolated viewed in the wrong context. They also asserted that there are no objectionable scenes in the film that may wound religious sentiment. The court has reserved judgment.
