Director Vasantha Balan is currently busy with Aravaan, which has Aadhi, Pasupathy, Archana Kavi and Dhansika in the lead roles. This film is based in the 18th century. To recreate the 18th century village, the director took nearly three months to find a suitable location. Vasantha Balan finally zeroed in on the Arittapatti Hill near Madurai as he felt that the place is replete with caves, hills, valleys and streams which he required for Aravaan.
Art director Vijay Murugan brought to life what Vasantha Balan had in mind by erecting 100 huts made of bamboo straws, palm leaves and stones. He also built a wonderful Karuppan Temple after a thorough research on the Pandian era. The director says that this hill and the sets created will play a very important role in the film.
