faces all over. Clad casually in a pair
of jeans and a white shimmering full sleeved
shirt with a matching belt and a drooping
moustache (singam style), he was every inch
the embodiment of style and suave.
Straight from the shooting spot and apologizing
for the small delay, Suriya was thankful
to behindwoods.com for giving him an opportunity
to interact with his fans. Later on he was
in a familiar zone volleying posers for
the winners of the contest. To enable his
fans to have a complete look at him, he
nonchalantly stepped on to the bench (initially
it was the chair) and did the perching act
quite well.
With a smiling countenance he answered questions
that ranged from films to family. He spoke
about the process that led him to develop
the enviable six pack abs for Vaaranam Aayiram
and how he avoided the fast track route
of assisted drugs but chose the tough route
of toil to achieve a well toned physique.
He was in modest elements when he said that
it calls for a couple of takes to complete
his shot but is not the case with Jo and
Karthi who always manage to get it right
in the first take.
He was thankful to Bala for bringing out
the actor in him and regretted not being
a part of his next project. For a question
on a film involving him, Karthi, Jo and
Sivakumar he said that the initiative should
come from outside.
When one of his fans said that Suriya fills
Kamal’s place and the entire crowd
endorsed his thoughts with a thunderous
applause, the humble actor simply bowed.
To a question on who was responsible for
his screen name Suriya, he credited it to
Mani Ratnam whose characters in films would
mostly go by the same name.
The Q&A session lasted for a good length
of time and the actor showed no signs of
weariness. This was followed by the photograph
and the autograph session with the winners
of the contest which the actor smilingly
obliged.
Like the proverbial ‘all good things
must come to an end’, the evening
was nearing its finish and the winners left
the hall with a life time lingering ecstasy,
all the same wishing the evening never ended.
