Thee
Nagar – Music Review |
|
|
|
|
Music
director – Jassie Gift
Lyrics - Snegan
After successive hits from Karan, Thee Nagar has
become very hot in the trade. But since both the
movies were not musically hit no one expects big
things in that department. However, this time, the
producer has roped in Jassie Gift whose music in
4 students was a great chartbuster in Malayalam
and Tamil alike. So, when we open the CD cover of
this latest Karan movie the expectations are a little
high. Let’s see how Jassie gift has lived
up to those expectations.

Neeye yen sarayatheru - Jassie
Gift, Ranjani Jose
The very first song starts with Jassie Gift’s
unique voice; he comes up with a peppy number
with Ranjani Jose lending a good support.
It’s a love duet with interesting lyrics.
Jassie, as usual, has tried many innovative
sounds to pep up the proceedings with a carnatic
undertone. A special and different song, it
has all the qualities to become a chartbuster.

Kalagakara
– Sujatha, Prasanna
First and foremost, the opening lines do remind you
of “Kalyanam thaan kattikittu” from Sami.
The song tries to be different but follows the same
route of many kuthu songs. Jassie gift tries to show
the difference in the background music but falls flat.
On the whole an average song and nothing new to offer.
Rating – 2/5
Oththa pulla Vennumadi
- Naveen, Alex, Anu Praveen, Saindhavi
A thoroughly enjoyable peppy track rendered with élan
by the singers. The background sound is fast paced
and will be lapped by the masses for sure. Jassie
Gift does a good job. The lyrics tend to have a vulgar
feel - that apart - it’s a chartbuster all the
way.

Ayiram Ayiram
– Jose, S. Abinav, Pradin Thomas
Lyrics – Aandal Priyadarshini
The song starts with an unusual voice of Jose.
The song is more like a recital of a poem, it
has nothing new. A bad choice of voice and mediocre
support by the musicians. It’s below average.

Kadavul Yedharku
– Chitra
The song is slow paced, beautifully rendered by Chitra.
Jassie could have made it a little faster but still
Chitra saves the song with her gifted voice. This
decent song would find patronage among the classes
but among the masses it will pass muster.
Rating - 3/5
Kaapatha Mudiyala
- Jassie Gift, Manicka Vinayagam
Definitely a song for the masses. Jassie and Manicka
Vinayagam’s vocal does help the proceedings
but music wise Jassie has not used his gift. Just
a usual folk song with decent lyrics. This might be
welcomed by the masses in due course of time.
Rating – 2.5/5
On the whole Jassie Gift doesn’t let down his
fans but people looking for ‘4 students’
kind of music will definitely be disappointed. Still
the songs are above average and can become hits as
time passes with FM station’s aid.
