The world’s first newspaper was published by Johann Carolus in 1605. Called as ‘Relation aller Fürnemmen und gedenckwürdigen Historien’, the German-language weekly paper was published in Strasbourg, which had the status of a free imperial city in the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. Interestingly,  ‘The Oxford Gazette’, published on November 7, 1665, was the first English newspaper.
