The world's rarest white diamond is up for auction this month. Thus diamond sellers have high expectations.
Diamond
Diamonds that are formed due to high pressure in the ground are naturally more hard. These are being stripped and sold for crores of rupees. They also vary in color depending on the chemicals present in the soil in which they are buried. Pink and blue diamonds, for example, are the most widely sold. Of these, white diamonds are the rarest. Because of that their prices are also substantial.
White diamond
A well-known diamond cut and polished 20 years ago in South Africa is up for auction in Geneva. Named 'The Rock', the diamond is for sale by Christie's. At 228.31 carats, this rare stone is in the shape of a pear.
The company said the diamond, which was previously on display in Dubai, will be auctioned off on May 11.
Rising price
The diamond, which has been polished and preserved for 20 years, is expected to sell for up to US $ 30 million (Rs. 226 crore in Indian currency).
Previous record
The 163.41-carat rare white diamond, which was auctioned off at Christie's in November 2017, sold for $ 33.7 million. Now, The Rock, which will be auctioned in Geneva next May, is expected to create tough competition amongst diamond lovers around the world.
It will be revealed on May 11 whether The Rock will break the previous record. Diamond merchants and millionaires around the world are eagerly waiting to participate in this auction.
