At some point, people have gotten tired of parents forcing them to get married and settle down. It looks like a 32-year-old woman decided to give in to the pressure, but in a different style. 32-year-old Lulu Jemimah married herself.
Jemimah, an Oxford student from Uganda, tied the knot with herself in a bar in Uganda. The decision to marry herself came after she was tired of her parents' nagging to find a match and settle down. In a ceremony held on August 27, Jemimah donned a white gown, walked down the 'aisle' and even decided to give a small speech at the end, explaining the lack of a groom.
The practice of marrying oneself is called 'sologamy', an act that is gaining popularity among people across the globe. Though Jemimah's parents did not attend the ceremony, she later called her mother and explained things to her. While the woman's decision might not have gone down well with her parents, the internet showered their good wishes on the free-spirited woman.
After her wedding, the bride took to Twitter, "Officially married. There was no groom. One bride, one goal," she wrote. "I got married on my 32nd birthday to the one person I am certain will take care of me," she added.
