WILD ELEPHANT ELECTROCUTED WHILE TRYING TO ENTER FARMLAND

According to reports, a wild elephant died on the spot as it was electrocuted when it tried to enter farmland by crossing an electric fence. The incident took place in Srilanka’s Mullaitheevu where the Army had formed the electric fence around agricultural lands. Reports suggest that the animal met its fate when it came searching for food and tried to enter the farmland.
Later, forest department staff rushed to the spot and cut off the tusks. After conducting a postmortem, the jumbo was buried.
The farmland was under the control of Sri Lankan Army. The Army official, who is in-charge of the farmland, was taken to court where he was given bail.
