A Ryanair flight that was flying from Romanian Capital Bucharset with 169 passengers and 4 crew members had to return back due to thick smoke in the cabin. The smoke had frigthened the passengers and the video of it has gone viral.
The Boeing 737-800 was supposed to depart from Bucharset at 6.40 am on Tuesday (January 21) but delayed due to techinical problem. Later a replacement flight was arranged at 10.57 am which did not sustain the journey. Minutes after taking off, an emergency landing was declared and the flight returned to Otopeni.
Daily Mail quoted one passenger saying, "It was very bad, the crew was quiet. We didn't even see the oxygen masks that should fall in such a condition. It was nothing and I was in real panic".
"Refreshment vouchers were provided, and passengers boarded another replacement aircraft which departed for London Stansted shortly after. Ryanair sincerely apologised to affected customers for this delay," said one spokeswoman
An investigation is going on to determine the reason for the smoke which is still unclear.
