VIDEO: ITALIANS UNIFIED ON LIBERATION DAY, SING BELLE CIAO FROM THEIR BALCONIES!
Home > News Shots > WorldThe song Bella Ciao which has gained popularity since 2017 as the Crime Drama Money Heist played various versions of it, was initially sung by the paddy field workers in Italy. The song initially gained popularity among such farmers in the 19th century, as they protested against the griming conditions at work. Between 1943 and 1945, Italians had modified the song, and created new versions during the anti-fascist resistance movement
On April 25, Italy once again sang in unity, the song of anti-fascist resistance and freedom, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Liberation. Liberation day marks the day during World War II when the German Nazi’s occupation ended. While the country is yet to be liberated from the lockdown that has been prevailing for over 50 days, to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus, they sang this song from their balconies and it has gone viral in the past couple days.
