The United Nations has reportedly sent a 46-truck convoy carrying food and medical supplies to the war-torn Syrian region of Eastern Ghouta, amidst heavy bombing and airstrikes. The convoy is reportedly carrying enough food assistance for 27,500 people, and supplies to treat 300 children for acute malnutrition. Marwa Awad, spokesperson for the World Food Program in Damascus was quoted as saying, “This assistance is a drop in an ocean of needs.”
