SADDENING! TURTLE LAYS EGGS IN AIRPORT RUNWAY INSTEAD OF BEACH

In a heartbreaking incident, a green sea turtle laid eggs in the middle of the runway of Maafaru International Airport in Noonu Atoll, Maldives, having no choice as she came looking for a suitable place to lay her eggs.

Maafaru is an inhabited island and the airport was built in 2018. The turtle came looking for a beach and found the airport instead.

A twitter user tweeted the picture and soon the picture had people talking about it. People were heartbroken.

It is scientifically proven that sea turtles always return to the exact location they were born for nesting purposes. "Despite the construction of the runway, the frequency with which turtles visit the island for nesting purposes has not decreased," a source from Maafaru Island Council told The Edition.

The real question is, how much more are we going to selfishly interfere with nature and other living beings in the name of development and growth?
