Home > News Shots > WorldUS President Donald Trump announced that they would be extending its "15 Days to Slow the Spread" guidelines until April 30. This measure is taken in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus, which has now infected more than 130,000 Americans and killed nearly 2,500. He made this announcement during a briefing of the White House Coronavirus Task Force from the White House Rose Garden.
US President Trump further stated that Americans should be ‘prepared for the hard days that lie ahead’. Trump said, “I want every American to be prepared for the hard days that lie ahead. We’re gonna go through a very tough two weeks and then hopefully, as the experts are predicting, is I think a lot of us are predicting after having studied it so hard, I’m going to start seeing some real light at the end of the tunnel. But this is gonna be a very painful, very, very painful two weeks.”
Trump made this announcement soon after death toll in US climbed past 3,600 on March 31. Earlier in the week, he had previously suggested he wants to reopen the U.S. economy, which has been battered by the coronavirus outbreak, by April 12.
