In Iran, a teenager was arrested for uploading her dance videos on her popular Instagram account thereby violating the country’s strict social codes. Maedeh Hojabri’s account has been suspended and activists have been expressing their opposition to her detention.
In an interview with Iranian state TV, the 18-year-old reportedly admitted to knowing such videos were forbidden. The teen had uploaded videos of her dancing to Iranian and Western music.
New York Post said Hojabri had posted about 300 videos to her nearly 600,000 followers. Many of the videos featured her dance wearing midriff-baring tops and tight jeans, without a hijab, which is required in public.

Her name is Maeade Mahi. Recently she got arrested just because of uploading her dancing videos on her Instagram. If you are a woman in Iran and you dance or sing or show your hair then you are a criminal. If you want to enjoy your true self, you have to brake the laws every day. pic.twitter.com/0eIq5ld5x6
