In a shocking case, a suicide blast took place at a funeral in eastern Afghanistan that has killed dozens of people and also injured several others on Tuesday.
As per Attaullah Khogyani, the provincial governor's spokesman said "according to initial reports, 40 people were killed and injured. The 40 people included martyrs, severely wounded and critically injured, details on which will be shared later".
Further giving statement on this report, Khogyani said the attack was conducted by a suicide bomber. The attacker detonated his explosives in the middle of the ceremony.
“Initial information shows about 40 people killed and wounded in the attack,” he added.
According to a Sputnik report, the attack was targeted at a funeral ceremony for a local police commander. He died last night due to a heart attack.
This incident took place at the funeral of Haji Sheikh Ikram, who served as the commander of the Khewa district's police unit.
