The president has already said in the past that he has a good relationship with PM Modi. “Prime Minister Modi is a friend of mine, and he's doing a very good job,” Trump said when he was recollecting his historic address at the ‘Howdy Modi’ event in Houston last September.
In order to attract the Indian- Americans into voting, the Democrats and Republicans are vigorously campaigning to reach out to the influential community.
According to a recent research by Mason in important states, Indian- Americans who traditionally used to vote for the Democrats are now shifting to Republic Party in significant numbers due to the friendship that Trump shares with Modi since he is very popular among this community.
According to AAPI Data, around 85% of Indian- Americans voted for the Democratic Party.
“The Trump campaign believes that Indian Americans can play an important role in the election, especially in the battleground states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio, where the two rival campaigns would be battling for every vote,” Times Now reported.
In order to win votes and divert the attention, the Democrats introduced Indian- origin Senator Kamala Harris as Joe Biden's running mate.
Indian- American community in the US is one of the fast- growing immigrant groups and hence play a major role in deciding the fate of the upcoming elections.
