VACCINE 'COVISHIELD': INDIA TO MANUFACTURE 7 CRORE DOSES OF VACCINE PER DAY! - DETAILS

Indian Serum Institute has announced that they are the planning on manufacturing 7 crore coronavirus vaccines a day, developed by the Oxford University in London, U.K.

Oxford University along with Janeka institute have come up with a vaccine for fighting the on-going pandemic. This vaccine has passed the first two stages of trials and is currently in clinical trials stage where it is being injected upon humans to test its effectiveness. Upon the successful completion of this stage, the Indian Serum Institute has partnered to manufacture the same.

This vaccine is called Covishield in India. However, the manufactured vaccines are not only for India but are expected to be distributed throughout the world.

"Serum Institute of India has entered a manufacturing partnership with AstraZeneca to produce and supply 1 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine being developed by Oxford University. These vaccines will be for India and middle and low-income countries across the world (GAVI countries)," Adar Poonawalla told news agency PTI.

Poonawalla has also confirmed that this vaccine will be sold in India for less than Rs. 1000 per dosage in order to make it affordable for all the sections of the society. This vaccine is likely to hit the market by the end of 2020 or in the early months of 2021.
