Animal rights group PETA has reportedly honoured the crested black macaque, famous for his grinning selfie, with the title ‘Person of the Year’. The Indonesian monkey named Naruto pressed the shutter button of a camera set up by British nature photographer David Slater on the island of Sulawesi in 2011. PETA said the title is given to Naruto to recognise that ‘he is someone, not something’.
