PAYPAL WRITES TO DECEASED CUSTOMER THAT HER DEATH HAS BREACHED ITS RULES

In a strange incident, online payments company, PayPal wrote to a deceased customer that her death had breached its rules. 31-year-old Lindsay Durdle died of cancer on May 31. PayPal reportedly wrote to her husband that her death had breached its rules and it may take legal action.

Lindsay's husband, Howard Durdle, already traumatised by his wife's death, contacted BBC. Reportedly, PayPal was informed of Lindsay's death only after three weeks. Howard had submitted her details and death certificate as requested.

The letter from PayPal headlined, "Important: You should read this notice carefully," read, "You are in breach of condition 15.4(c) of your agreement with PayPal Credit as we have received notice that you are deceased... this breach is not capable of remedy."

PayPal immediately responded to the incident and accepted that the letter was insensitive. It apologised to Howard.
