12 arrested for ordering ‘revenge rape’ of alleged rapist’s sister

At least 12 people, including the members of a village council, were arrested in Pakistan for ordering ‘revenge rape’ of the sister of a man who allegedly raped a girl. The family of the alleged rapist first asked the victim’s family for pardon. However, they later agreed to reconcile with the condition that the sister of the alleged rapist also gets raped for revenge. Such revenge assaults are still practised in some rural areas in Pakistan, despite a ban by law.
