VIDEO: DOCTORS REMOVE 2 LIVE LEECHES FROM MAN'S THROAT AFTER HE COMPLAINS OF COUGHING  

In a shocking case, a man from China was stunned to hear that the cause of his non-stop coughing was two live leeches which were struck to his throat and nostril.

The man is a 60-year-old patient, whose identity has not been revealed. According to Daily Mail reports, the man did not know that he had the leeches inside his body. When his cough got unbearable, then he decided to visit a doctor and get treated. To his surprise, he found that there were leeches in his nostril and throat.

As per the doctors, during an initial CT scan they did not find anything; later when they performed a bronchoscopy only then, they could see the leeches inside him. Also, the leeches could only be removed with tweezers after giving local anaesthesia to the patient. 

Meanwhile, Apple Daily News reported that one leech was found in his right nostril, while the other was found stuck below his glottis.

Many who work in the wild or open, contract leeches while drinking water from mountain streams. "When he drank with water [containing the leeches], it was likely that they were very small and undetectable by the naked eye. In the past month or two, the leeches have sucked the patient's blood and grown," the doctor told Daily Mail.
