JAPAN SLAMS WHO CALLS IT 'CHINA HEALTH ORGANISATION', DEMANDS DIRECTORS RESIGNATION!
Home > News Shots > WorldAs the world is reeling over the deadly coronavirus outbreak, Japan slammed the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Deputy Prime Minister of Japan Aso Taro said that the WHO should be renamed as China Health Organisation or 'CHO'. He accused WHO of giving in to China’s spin about the coronavirus pandemic.
As per a Republic World report, recently, while speaking to the Japanese lawmakers in the parliament, Taro slammed WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus for his “inadequate evaluation to address the coronavirus outbreak“. He also referenced a Change.org petition and demanded for the removal of WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus.
"At least the petition has received 5,00,000 signatures. People think the World Health Organisation should change its name…it shouldn’t be called the WHO, it should be renamed the CHO (or Chinese Health Organisation). This is truly resonating with the people,” Aso said.
Highlighting about the petition, it was started by Osuka Yip which has received nearly 7 lakh signatures worldwide. The petition blames WHO chief for refusing to declare China virus outbreak as a global health emergency, which came later in January, reports Republic World.
Japan's anger comes days after the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics, because they had invested 35 trillion yen, (approximately $12.35 billion ) for the much awaited sporting event. Looking at the coronavirus cases in Japan, they have reported more than 2,500 cases while more than 63 people have died so far.
