ISRAEL DEVELOPS ANTIBODY: "CAN 'NEUTRALISE AND TREAT' COVID-19 IN PATIENTS," CLAIMS TOP MEDICAL TEAM!

As the global tally of deadly coronavirus infections stands at 3,646,211, while 252,407 people have died due to the infection so far, the Israeli Defence Minister came up with a ‘significant breakthrough' news towards possible treatment for COVID-19. 

Defence Minister Naftali Bennett said in a statement, "monoclonal neutralising antibody" developed at the Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR) "can neutralise it (the disease-causing coronavirus) inside carriers' bodies." 

This confirmation came after he visited the IIBR yesterday where he was briefed "on a significant breakthrough in finding an antidote for the coronavirus". 

Further in the statement, the IIBR Director Shmuel Shapira said that the antibody formula is currently being closely monitored and patented, only after that an international manufacturer would be sought to mass-produce it and help other countries. 

The IIBR has been working and putting most of their efforts to develop a treatment and vaccine for the coronavirus. They have also tried testing of blood from those who recovered from COVID-19. As per a News18 report, antibodies in such samples - immune system proteins which are residues of successfully overcoming the coronavirus. This method is widely seen as a measure to developing a possible cure.

This antibody has been derived from a single recovered cell and is thus potentially of more potent value in yielding a treatment, News18 further added. 

Looking back at the outbreak, Israel was among the first countries to lockdown its borders and impose stringent restrictions on movement. Till date, it has reported 16,246 cases and 235 deaths from the illness.
