An Indian-origin math teacher named Shanti Vishwanathan is hailed as a hero as her quick decision to not open the door of the classroom helped save the lives of her students during the Florida school shooting. The teacher became alert after a second fire alarm of the day around Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Wednesday. According to reports, she made pupils crouch on the floor in the corner of the room and put paper over the window so no one could see in. She didn’t open the door even when the SWAT team asked to. Then SWAT teams allegedly smashed through the window to gain entry to the room.
