Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of the Caribbean island of Dominica, has reportedly said that the island has been “brutalised and devastated” by category 5 Hurricane Maria. Roosevelt in his Facebook post stated that the wind had ripped the roof off his house and wrote he was “at the complete mercy of the hurricane”. However, he was rescued from the property. Hurricane Maria had intensified into a category 5 storm before making landfall on the Caribbean island, reports said.
