Narendra Modi arrived in Houston on Saturday (September 21) to attend the Howdy, Modi event. He was received by Christopher Olson, Director of Trade and International Affairs, US Ambassador Kenneth Juster and Indian Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla at the airport.
US President Donald Trump will spend 100 minutes at the NRG Stadium where the Howdy, Modi event is scheduled to happen on Sunday (September 22). Though Trump's exact duration of speech is not yet known, it is expected that he could speak as long as 30 minutes at the event. Further, the TOI report also adds that Trump will also be present during Narendra Modi's speech.
Reportedly Howdy, Modi event would mark the biggest gathering of Indo-Americans (more than 50,000). A leader from the Indian-American community listed some of the bilateral benefits that could be obtained out of the Howdy, Modi event. His statements, as quoted by TOI are listed below.
"By coming to Houston and attending the "Howdy, Modi!" event, Trump has won the hearts of Indo-Americans. He will earn more votes from Indian Americans in the 2020 presidential elections".
"Leaders of the two largest democracies in the world addressing more than 50,000 people from one platform is historic. This will further cement the India-US relationship".
Further, the statements affirmed the opportunities that would be created out of the event for strengthening the ties between the people of India and the United States. Following the anticipation, the "Howdy, Modi" event happened amidst Indo-Americans in Houston which was also attended by US president Trump.
Modi addressed the crowd in 6 Indian languages, further campaigning for Trump in the next US elections. He requested the crowd to vote for Trump in the upcoming US elections. The event revealed the like-minded motive of PM Modi and President Trump.
