FIRST WORLD LEADER TO DIE OF COVID-19? - BURUNDI'S PRESIDENT MEETS A MYSTERIOUS DEATH!
Home > News Shots > WorldThe political stability of Burundi has been in jeopardy ever since the sudden demise of the state’s former president, Nkurunziza, a fit 55-year-old man who might have succumbed to COVID19 and passed away. He publicly denied that coronavirus might not pose threats to the country but he collapsed and died due to a heart attack as per official record on 8 June.
As per diplomats’ statements to media, there is a high possibility that Nkurunziza, whose wife was airlifted to Kenya with suspected COVID19, had died from side- effects of COVID19.
Other members of this family, including his mother, might be suffering from the virus. However, official sources haven’t confirmed the cause of the former president’s death. If confirmed, he would be the world’s first head of state to fie from COVID19.
His death might get other global leaders to take serious measures to control the spread of the virus. Schools, places of worship and even sporting events had continued to operate throughout the pandemic in Burundi.
Recently, new set of speculations and rumours claimed that the president-elect, Evariste Ndayishimiye to be the latest member from Burundi’s political elite, affected by the virus. However, his recent public appearance proved the speculations to be wrong. A climate of fear and rumour continues to prevail in the East African country.
